Who is Rogue Rocket Games?
Nick Bruty and Richard Sun were happily working together on some new frontier type stuff at Planet Moon when from out of nowhere somebody dropped a tactical nuke filled with diseased manatees on the studio.
Tragic as it was, this pushed Nick and Rich to have a good think about what they really wanted to do. What they concluded that really it was time to try something new. And thus Rogue Rocket games was formed.
It was a perfect opportunity to start fresh, and create a small, dynamic team that can quickly produce high quality games perfect for the burgeoning frontier of digitally consumed games. Whether it be browser, mobile, downloadable for your computer or console, or something entirely new we haven’t even thought of yet in the future, that’s where this Rocket will go to find an audience for its games.
Rogue Rocket was created because it saw that retail packaged software was quickly becoming a relic of the past, and instantly accessible online distributed experiences were the future, where game makers and game players can interact with each other more closely and in more meaningful ways than ever before. It provides a space reminiscent of times past when making video games was always an experiment in new experiences and with smaller development teams able to try new things constantly. Except now, we have amazingly superior channels to reach the people who would actually be interested in checking out what we have built for them.
This, in a word, is going to be totally awesome.
Who is this guy Nick Bruty?
Nick has been making games for 18 years as a designer and artist. He has long left his mark the gaming industry, not being afraid to be creative. During his time at Virgin Games and Shiny Entertainment, he was principally involved in the creation of well known IPs such as Earthworm Jim and MDK. In 1997 he formed Planet Moon Studios with some long time colleagues, and now looks forward with bright eyes to the return of an age of smaller teams where creativity can flow more freely, and an open connection to the fans is possible once again!
What about this other guy Richard Sun?
Rich has been making games for 11 years as a programmer and team leader. He has worked on a swath of different games ranging from programming and writing dialog on Escape From Monkey Island at LucasArts, to networked multiplayer programming on Infected for PSP at Planet Moon. He could have had a regular ol’ day job, but decided that it was much too sensible, and not nearly Roguish enough.
